Inspirational Links/Podcasts

These are links to podcasts or articles that I believe are meaningful in the space and meaning of this website. Breaking out of desperation is not a solo effort.

Rich Roll Podcast and Resources

A major part of my journey was when I ready Rich Roll’s book “Finding Ultra”. He’s a key inspiration on what it means to break out of quiet desperation. His guests are from all walks of life but often have the common theme of living an inspired life. I learned very early on listening to his podcast that even though the guest didn’t resonate with me on the surface I was never disappointed listening all of the way through. There’s been something in each one I can take away to help myself be a better version of me.

Finding Mastery Podcast

The Finding Mastery Podcast is a truly amazing experience. Michael Gervais is a high performance sport psycologist who interviews people that have done amazing things in their lives. If you’re looking for inspiration or wanting to understand the framework on how top people in their field got where they are, this is the podcast. Michael has an almost childlike inquisitiveness that takes the person being interviewed into deep places. He’s a psycologist so it often feels as though the listener is a “fly on the wall” during a deep session.

10 Percent Happier Podcast

The 10 percent Happier Podcast is a favorite of mine. Dan Harris came out with a book in I believe 2014 that was called “10 Percent Happier”. It was a great book that details his journey from a fairly stressed out existence and bad coping mechanisms that led to an anxiety attack on air. He’s an ABC news anchor. The book documents his journey to deal with that anxiety which led him to meditation. The point of the 10% is that even if meditation isn’t the “be all” of dealing with emotional challenges and making you completely happy, if it gets you 10% happier it’s probably well worth it. I believe he and many others have acknowledged that meditation can make you much greater than 10% happier with a committment to the practice. His podcast has an eclectic list of guests, most of which have experience or a concentrated background in meditation. It’s always well worth the listen.
